Stage Crew – Drama Flashlight?

Hello all,
I was wondering if anyone knows where i can find a Cheep light I can use for doing stage crew for my schools Drama club?..
Preferbly Blue/Green with Red/Green Laser pointer..

Go to your local hardware store and buy a cheap torch. Get some gel from the lighting department of the drama club and stick it to the front of the torch. Get a laser pointer and gaffer tape it to the torch….why do you want a laser pointer anyway? I’m a professional stage manager and I’ve never needed a laser pointer! I carry two torches; I have a Maglite which never leaves my belt and I also have an LED headtorch which is really really useful when I need two hands for a job.

You should be OK at 5 and 10mW. 100 and 150mW are getting a bit interesting. As long as the scatter is relatively generalised (i.e. no mirrors!) and you’re not looking at it from too close you should be OK. Just don’t stare down the beam.

For the pellgun oil replacement, your only option is to use 20w or 30w non-detergent motor oil.

My local wal-mart sells "Accel" brand 30W "SA" non-detergent for under $2 a quart and it will last you a very long time. Don’t get the newer "10W30" or "10W40" all those have additives and detergent that will eventually corrode your seals and cause leaks.

I use an old eye-dropper for a delivery method, works very well just label it so noone makes a mistake and uses it in their eyes

how are green lasers visible in mid-air?

i dont get how it can show up in midair with no smoke or anything for it to reflect off of. why dont red lasers?

There is stuff in the air (smoke, dust, atoms, etc) that scatters the laser light out of the beam and toward your eye. It’s just that you need a very bright light so that enough of it gets scattered to be visible to you eye. There are two reasons why green lasers do this while red lasers "don’t". The first reason is that it is easier to make a high power green laser than a high power red laser. For this reason, the common green laser pointer will have a a couple times more power than a common red laser pointer. The other reason is that your eye is by far most sensitive to green light. Your eye is far less sensitive to red light. So if your green and red lasers were equal power, the green would look much brighter and needs to scatter less for you to see it.

That being said, red lasers also scatter in air and can be seen if they are powerful enough (or if the room is dark enough). I have a couple red lasers in my lab that are easily visible in the very clean lab air, but they are more than 100 times more powerful than a typical laser pointer.

The lasers that Philips is working on allow motorists to read live traffic information without the need to actually gaze off the road that they are treading on.

The eye-safe lasers are mounted on the top of lampposts to provide utmost intensity. They are also engineered to receive data from travel centers and beam it on to the street below. Philips said the scheme would be flexible, too. With the said innovation, even lane markings could be changed at the flick of a switch.

Eye-safe lasers are meticulously designed to display warnings about hazards such as floods and other analogous perils. This would render temporary signs unnecessary for road safety measures. The electronic giant believes all lampposts could have a projector, and replace costly over­head variable message signs. Lasers can project several colors lest messages and lane markings could get traffic light-style coding. For instance, green could be used for route information, red for compulsory instructions and amber for hazard warnings.

If these lasers are already released, drivers could not only rely on the efficiency of their EBC redstuff when they do repetitive and hard braking because of an impending accident, they could also count on these lasers as allies.

what brand is better, wicked lasers or skylasers?

ok i have been doing my Research and i want to know if SKY lasers is a good brand compared to wicked lasers, because wicked is so expensive i have been looking at sky and i want to make sure they are reliable lasers
